COMPOSER’S THOUGHTS – ZERO GRAVITY

Song Title: Zero Gravity

This song took me to a floating scene in space. Was picturing an Astronauts first trip into space and that Unbelievable Awe feeling he felt in the presence of something vast that challenged his understanding of the world, like looking at the millions of stars and galaxies around him. Wanted to capture the Astronauts awe moment as he takes his first look at earth and God’s magnificent creation from space. Wanted this song to have an airy drifting feel to the song.

Song Title: Hour Glass

I was picturing our life as like an Hour Glass. There is a start when the hour glass gets flipped and when our life begins on this earth,  When the sand runs outs is when our life is done here on this earth. As we go through our own personal lives, we all have to ponder what we choose to do with our lives.

Wanted the song to capture that pondering feel.  Some will sit and absolutely do nothing except normal every day things and just exist on this earth, others will pursue careers, monetary status, material things, their dreams, some will actually pursue honoring the Lord with their lives and try to fulfill Gods purpose for them on this earth.

Either road you choose, you will experience some stressful decision making that will need to be made that can have some suspenseful and drama filled moments not knowing what lies ahead. The 1:05 – 1:34 mark is where I am picturing it start to build and getting suspenseful and dramatic capturing those times in life. The Chorus captures the Joyous parts in our lives where we experience the fruits of our labor.  I picture the chorus having a good joyus feel to it.

The very ending part of the song is where it captures the last grains of sand of our lives here on this earth where we are confronted having to reflect back and ponder what we did with our lives and if the Lord would say “Well Done Good and Faithful Servant” when we meet our maker.

Song Title: Dreams We Shared

Picturing this song to have that simple, elegant, soothing and emotionally heartwarming feel to it. This song took me to two different type of scenes when I was composing. The first was the Opening Scene to Forest Gump.

The other scene it took me too, was the very emotional scene in the Movie UP where the old man, starts thinking of all the memories of his wife and all the things they were able to do and all the dreams they still had planned but were not able to accomplish.  Wanted to capture that warm emotional feel in this song.

Song Title: Will You Dance

Pictured this song in a romantic British royalty movie during the late 1800’s period.  Where the prince has his eyes on a certain young lady who also has eyes on him. The Queen’s Ball event is drawing near and the prince sends a special invitation requesting her presence. I picture this song in the scene when the ball takes place and the prince see’s the young lady in the crowd and makes eye contact with her. He walks up to her, extends his hand and asks “Will You Dance”. She kindly accepts and this songs plays during this romantic beautiful dance scene. Pictured this song having a smooth feel to it and was hearing shakers during the chorus parts.

Song Title: Renewed

This song took me to a scene where the main actor has that breakthrough moment and all the stress and anxiety he had been carrying sheds right off. His strength is renewed and is able to live life with purpose.

Song Title: Childhood Memories

Just took me to a scene where the main actor just starts reflecting back on his childhood memories. This song comes in as he starts reflecting back on his childhood. The movie moves to childhood scenes in his life that really impacted him. The scenes flashback to all the love he received from his family pouring into his life as a child, and made him into the confident loving Husband and Father he turned out to be.

Song Title: Forgiven

Picture a movie about a loving Christian family. The parents poured into their children and did their best to instill the word of God into their lives. One of the Children during his late teenage years to his early 20’s turned away from God and rebelled against his parents. During those years he put his parents through hell, he was in trouble with the law regularly and his parents would still do their best to help him and love on him. He in return would abuse them verbally, tell them he hated them and wanted nothing to do with God. Their Son left home and moved as far away as possible from his family. Their Parents lost contact with their son for many years.

Years later, the son had a very personal encounter with the Lord and surrendered his life in a mighty way. He knew right then that he has to go home and make it right and ask his parents to please forgive him for what he put them through all those years.

I picture the following scene where this song would come in.

The Scene starts with a aerial view inside a church and the son being baptized. As he comes out of the water, His thought immediately turns to needing to make it right with his parents.

The scene moves to him on the phone calling his parents and asking if he could go home to see them. The meat of this song is the scene of him in his pickup truck making the cross country journey back to his parents home. During his several day long journey the scene jumps back and forth from him driving at night, in the rain and during the day but during his trip the scene also jumps back and forth of him remembering and having flashbacks of all the bad things he had done and put his parents through.

Toward the end of the song it shows him arriving home and his parents are there to greet him as he is weeping and asks his parents for forgiveness.  His parents receive him with open arms and thank the Lord for bringing their son home.

Song Title: Jeannette

Never had plans for this song to be on my album since it is one of my older songs. But, my daughter Jeannette asked me to put this song on the album and title it Jeannette’s song. This song is special to her. She remembers when she was a little girl how she would lay in our music room and listen to me play. This song is the song that always takes her back to that memory of laying in my music room as I played. Was honored as a Dad to add this song to the album.  She is 35 years old now. Tell’s you how old this song is.

Song Title: Day Dream

I pictured a movie scene of a person at his job and drifting away into an amazing daydream moment. The scene moves to his daydream and the amazing memory he was reflecting on. At the end of the song, his boss sees him and taps him on the shoulder and says back to work as he snaps out of his daydream with a big smile on his face.

Song Title: Awaiting your Return

This song took me to the Civil War Era. Pictured a young couple where the husband went off to war. The husband writes letters when he can sharing the horrible conditions of what battle is like, and all he can think of is her, and how he wants to come home so bad.  All the wife can do is await his return. This song captures that scene.

Toward the end of the song. The town gets word that the Civil War is over and there soldiers are on their way home. Every day she sits at the edge of town awaiting his return. At the end of the song where it builds is where the wife sees a group of soldiers on their horses at a distance making their way toward town. The wife makes eye contact with her husband and she starts running toward him. The husband sees her and races his horse toward her. The climax at the end of the song is where he jumps off his horse and they embrace in each other’s arms.
